The Dairyland factory was built in 1900 right at our current location in Irvington New Jersey. The building saw additions in 1903 and 1929. Besides paint and a bit of retrofitting, our building stands the same today as it did in the early 1900's. In that time, Dairyland has built a rich history and great tradition of quality.

When "The Dairy" first opened its doors it was more than just ice cream. In fact, ice cream wasn't even Dairyland's primary product. Originally, the factory was a dairy processing plant, as the name might suggest. Milk was bottled and shipped fresh to your door. Along with milk, the factory produced other typical dairy products such as cream, cottage cheese, and of course, ice cream.
In 1972 Dairyland shifted its focus from dairy to just ice cream and frozen deserts. And in 1978 The Dairy was purchased by current owner and president, Arthur Anastasia. Since that time, Dairyland has had great success with its wholesale business and store. We've done private labelling for companies such as Shoprite and Howard Johnson's and for years have provided hospitals, schools and restaurants in the area with the highest quality ice cream. Products such as the chipwich ice cream sandwich, toffuti ice cream and friuli sorbet were first developed inside Dairyland walls. Our store has seen movie stars and sports stars such as Jason Kidd, Jerry Lewis and Whitney Houston. We believe the success has stemmed from our constant commitment to quality.
The Dairyland team is dedicated to excellence, now more than ever. We've teamed up with the United Way so that we can give back to the community in more than just ice cream. The future for Dairyland includes a wide expansion of our delivery routes and in time the spread of Dairyland Ice Cream shops. Our focus is not simply to sell ice cream to the metropolitan area, but to give all of America and the world a taste of what we believe ice cream should be.
